About Us

The UC Office of the President (UCOP) Human Resources serves about 2,000 UCOP employees who work in the Bay Area, Sacramento, other parts of California, and as far away as Washington, DC.

While most of the nearly 300 UCOP Human Resources/Benefits staff is involved in activities that support UC campuses, medical centers and national laboratories, there are 19 members who are dedicated to providing a full range of human resources and benefits services to UCOP employees, managers and departments.

The 19-person UCOP Human Resources department is directed by Rosemary Monroe. The following is a summary of its services:

Benefits Services and Workers' Compensation
This unit, headed by Michael Waldman, administers benefits plans and programs for UCOP employees and provides information and individual consultations on retirement, savings programs, health and welfare plans and Workers' Compensation.

Classification/Compensation
Headed by Jeannette Harroun and Gemma Rieser, this team handles salary administration, job analysis and classification work.

Employee Assistance Program
Jude Sharp provides confidential consulting, counseling and referral services to UCOP employees. She also consults with managers and departments on employee assistance issues.

Employee/Labor Relations and Vocational Rehabilitation
A team, led by Rene Jackson, is responsible for assisting employees and departments with employee and labor relations and vocational rehabilitation services, collective bargaining and contract administration, consulting on personnel policies and procedures and related laws, and conflict mediation and resolution.

Employment Services
Headed by Linda McMullen, this unit is responsible for outreach and hiring efforts for career and temporary staff.

UCOP Human Resources is also responsible for local nondiscrimination, equal employment opportunity and affirmative action activities, and for administering UC's policy on employee reasonable accommodation.
