Career Development Resources
All UCOP employees are currently eligible to access the following career Development
services:
- Dealing effectively with change and transition through a step-by-step
systematic process of managing a career of choice
- Learning about resources to explore and secure employment in a
deliberate manner
- Developing resume, interview
skills, and job search tools
- 30-minute Individual counseling by appointment only
- Group sessions are coordinated through management
- Workshops on strategies and techniques
of resume writing, interview,
job search and build resilience.

Career Development Leadership Opportunity Program (CDLOP) – Cultivating
Future Leadership of UCOP High Potential Employees
The Career Development Program identifies 25
high potential employees through an application selection process for a year
of leadership and management development, training, and special project assignments
in cultivating high performance future leaders of UCOP.
Program Components
- Retreat – 2
day off-site retreat at the beginning
of the program year
- Confidential Assessment and feedback – Utilizing
assessment tools like Clifton Strength Finders,
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the "Calling Card"
- Monthly training
workshops to address topics pertinent to career
growth
- Monthly brown
bag lunches for presentation skills and business
writing
- Career counseling sessions to strategize individual career plans
- Special Project Assignments – Sponsored by UC Administrators,
these projects will provide a great exposure to UC leadership to
further cultivate relationships and build knowledge of all UC functions;
will contribute to UCOP mission for strategic leadership and services;
and enhance performance of the sponsoring unit.
Selection Criteria
- Analyst – Principal Analyst-I or equivalent
(PSS
2-5)
- One or more years of UC employment
- Satisfactory job performance
- Submission of complete program application
- Application
form (enterable PDF Form)
- Current resume
- Letter of recommendation from a UC administrator or other professional
contact (other than current supervisor)
- Supervisor's
assessment (enterable PDF Form)
Supervisors can expect that participants will need approximately
15 hours of release time each month. There is no cost to either the
department or program member.
