Rene Jackson, Director [+ -]
Rene Jackson started with the University in 1999 at UCSF campus during the UCSF-Stanford merger and de-merger and brings more than 15 years Human Resources generalist experience from the private sector. In her previous roles, she reviewed, analyzed, and resolved grievances and complaints; conducted supervisory training on policy and law; interpreted personnel policies, collective bargaining agreements, and employment laws. Currently, Rene is the HR Director for UCOP locally; she is the UCSF liaison providing exemplary HR customer service; helps resolve complex organizational and employee relations issues; and serves as the UCOP Sexual Harassment Prevention Officer.

Pamela Hayes, Manager [+ -]
Pamela Hayes has been serving as the UCSF Benefits Manager for two-and-a-half years and has supported UCSF Campus HR in various functions for a total of 10 years. As the Benefits Manager, she provides leadership and oversight for UCSF Benefits Office operations for the Faculty and Staff Benefits Programs, the Postdoctoral Scholar Benefit Programs, and the Residents and Clinical Fellows Benefits Programs. In addition, she facilitates HR-wide initiatives such as the HR Community Project with the goal of engaging and supporting HR generalists throughout UCSF. When she is not working, she enjoys hiking in Mt. Tamalpias and taking city walks and loves the great sights and fine dining the Bay Area has to offer.

Erin Brychel, Benefits Representative [+ -]
Erin Brychel is the Health Care Facilitator Assistant for both UCSF and UCOP employees and retirees. Erin has worked for UC since 2007 and recently transferred to UCSF from UCOP as a Health Care Facilitator Assistant. She helps employees and retirees to better understand and obtain the full benefits and services available from the UC-sponsored health plans. Outside of work, Erin enjoys yoga, hiking, cardio belly dance, movie nights, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Susan Forstat, Health Care Facilitator [+ -]
Sue Forstat serves as the Health Care Facilitator for UCSF and UCOP employees and retirees. She has been the HCF for UCSF since November 2006. Prior to that, she worked for UCSF and UCSF Medical Center since 1991 in a variety of departments and clinics, providing services to faculty, staff, students, and Medical Center patients. She has worked in the health care industry for 30 years. As the HCF, Sue aims to empower employees and retirees to fully access their health benefits through providing information, education, and by intervening to assist members in resolving problems of coverage, access, and administrative processes (including billing problems).

Allen Terry, Principal Coordinator [+ -]
Allen provides one-on-one UCRP retirement/disability counseling, is the facilitator for the Benefits Orientation program and the Features of UCRP (retirement education) workshop, offers communication, education, training/support for Department Benefits Representatives (DBRs), and administers subject-matter expertise in health and welfare and retirement arenas.
Linda Yee, Benefits Analyst [+ -]
Linda Yee provides UCRP retirement/disability counseling and acts as liaison to help resolve escalated benefit issues. She also supports the new employee benefit orientation, retirement education and DBR workshops. Linda previously worked at UCOP in Retirement Services counseling retirees and inactive UCRP members on their benefits.
Desiree Yip, Benefits Analyst [+ -]
Desiree Yip has worked at UCSF for more than 18 years: six years in the Controller's Office-Payroll/Benefits unit and 12 years in the HR/Benefits units. In both positions, she educated and resolved issues for employees, department benefits representatives, and managers about UC health and welfare benefits and retirement plans. Previously, Desiree spent 10 years in the banking industry involved in corporate loans and retirement programs. Desiree also volunteers with the CLS-Arts and Events Outreach committee and Asian Pacific American Systemwide Alliance (APASA) to bring employee events to the Laurel Heights campus.

Susan Wright, Manager [+ -]
Susan Wright began her UCSF career in 1985 as an Employment Representative focusing on the delivery of staffing services to campus clients. In her 24 years of service, Susan has held a variety of progressively responsible positions in HR and served briefly as a Management Intern in the Medical Center. Susan possesses two professional certifications: Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR); a degree from the University of Rochester; and a teaching credential earned at San Francisco State University. As Manager of Compensation and Strategic Rewards, Susan leads a team of Compensation Consultants who deliver strategic and operational services in the areas of organization-wide compensation and rewards for both UCSF campus and UCOP.

Tim Booher, Compensation Consultant [+ -]
Tim Booher, SPHR, joined Human Resources at Laurel Heights in February 2006 and now serves as a Compensation Consultant in the Compensation and Strategic Rewards unit. He provides comprehensive professional services related to classification, compensation, and strategic rewards programs; develops and administers salary programs; serves as consultant to client departments; and provides campus as well as departmental-wide training. He has worked for the University since 1996, previously serving in Human Resources management and analyst positions at both the UC Berkeley and San Francisco campuses. Prior to that, he worked in private enterprise for 18 years. Tim has also completed the HR Management program at San Francisco State and holds a degree in Sociology from Southern Illinois University.

Crystal Morris, Compensation Consultant [+ -]
Crystal Morris, a graduate of Howard University, joined UCSF in 1989 and has spent her 20-year UCSF career in Campus Human Resources. During her years of service, Crystal has served as an Employment Representative, a Professional Recruiter for the then Medical Center Team, and Manager of the Temporary Employment Program. Crystal also served a one-year internship as Manager of Development & Training in HR. Crystal has served on the Chancellor's Advisory Committee for Diversity, Staff Issues, and Committee for the Advancement of Women and has been an active member of the Black Caucus of UCSF. In 2005, Crystal was honored to receive the Staff award for the Chancellor's Award for the Advancement of Women.

Don Diettinger, Manager [+ -]
Don Diettinger brings more than 30 years experience in line management, consulting, project management, and learning program development and delivery. Much of Don's most recent experience prior to coming to UC in 2001 is in dealing with large organizational re-engineering and change management.

Aja Duncan is a professional writer and diversity educator with extensive experience designing learning programs for individual and organizational development. Aja is also a co-active coach, facilitating transformation in individuals' professional and personal lives.
Tacy Trowbridge, Development & Training Coordinator [+ -]
Prior to joining UCSF as an instructional designer in 2008, Tacy Trowbridge worked in education technology for 15 years managing professional development programs for educators, teaching, writing curriculum, and designing online learning. She has worked with Teachscape, Classroom Connect, PBS, Stanford University's Persuasive Technology Lab, and San Francisco-area schools. Tacy Trowbridge earned a bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University and a Master's degree from Stanford University's School of Education in Learning, Design, and Technology.

Larry Hickey, HR Assistant Director [+ -]
Larry Hickey joined the Human Resources Department in 1998 after many years as a consultant specializing in benefits, disability, and workers' compensation programs. Larry oversees the Employee Support Services units within HR, including Benefits and Financial Planning, Disability Management Services, and the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program. Recently, Larry has taken on an additional role of overseeing the transition of HR service delivery to the Office of the President.

Roger Howland, Disability Management Analyst [+ -]
Roger Howland, previously the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor at UCOP, joined the Disability Management Services unit at UCSF in December 2008. He has been with the University since 1995 and has worked in the private sector as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor since 1992. He coordinates compliance with the Workers' Compensation program, facilitates return to work planning and claims handling, provides case management, and tracks ergonomic program equipment purchases.

Yvette M. Guerrero, Ph.D., Manager [+ -]
Dr. Guerrero has served as the FSAP manager since 1995. In her managerial role, she provides leadership, guidance, and strategic direction of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) serving faculty and staff of the Campus and Medical Center. She is a member of the HR Department Management team and the Finance Administration Services Leadership group. Dr. Guerrero’s responsibilities include policy and procedure development; fiscal management; program and curriculum design; program quality assurance; supervision of clinical staff in their provision of counseling; and consultation to managers and supervisors. In addition to her responsibilities regarding EAP services, Dr. Guerrero manages the UCSF Employee Emergency Loan Program. Currently, she is serving on the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Diversity. Dr. Guerrero is committed to providing the highest quality EAP serices that promote health and well-being, while carrying out the UCSF mission in the context of a diverse and supportive work environment.

Sharon Mendonca has worked at UCSF since 2001. She graduated from San Francisco State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
Andrew Parker, Ph.D., Counselor [+ -]
Andrew L. Parker is a Clinical Psychologist with the Faculty & Staff Assistance Program at UCSF and in private practice in San Francisco and Mill Valley. Prior to his career as a psychologist, he was a professional mediator in the field of catastrophic injury litigation. He earned his Doctorate from the University of Colorado at Boulder and interned at the San Francisco VA Hospital. In addition to his private practice, he has worked as a therapist for the San Francisco Vet Center treating Vietnam combat veterans and as Clinical Director for the Swords to Plowshares residential treatment program for homeless veterans coping with long-term addiction. Before coming to UCSF, he was Program Director for the Ohlhoff Outpatient Program in Marin County, which provides treatment for individuals and families dealing with chemical dependency and eating disorders. At UCSF, he also serves on the Physician’s Well-Being Committee, the Domestic Violence Response Team, and on the Threat Management Team.
Michelle Skeen, Psy.D., Counselor [+ -]
Michelle Skeen, Psy.D., is currently working for the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), where she provides mental health counseling and consultation services to the Campus and Medical Center staff and faculty. She has a strong commitment to delivering mental health services with skill and compassion. Dr. Skeen received her Doctorate from the Wright Institute.
Michelle Sokoloff, Psy.D., Counselor [+ -]
Michelle Sokoloff, Psy.D., is currently working for Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), where she provides mental health counseling and consultation services to the Campus and Medical Center University's staff and faculty. Dr. Sokoloff earned her Psy. D. and M.A. at the Wright Institute in clinical psychology where she was trained to provide culturally informed insight oriented psychodynamic, client-centered, psychotherapy to individuals families and couples utilizing schema, cognitive, and behavioral therapies with a special focus on cultural diversity. Dr. Sokoloff's therapeutic orientation can be described as integrated. Furthermore, Dr. Sokoloff is currently providing psychotherapy in private practice to individuals and couples with a variety of concerns. Dr. Sokoloff brings a dedication and has a strong interest in promoting knowledge and acceptance of cultural diversity as well as a strong understanding about the interrelatedness of health, illness, behavior, emotional resiliency, and the process of healing and its social influences.

Michael Lum, Lead Analyst [+ -]
Michael Lum provides analysis, consultation, and coaching in the areas of labor relations and human resources to managers, supervisors, and staff at UCSF and UCOP. Michael began his human resources career with the City of San Francisco serving as an HR Manager with several City departments, including Parking and Traffic, the MUNI, Recreation and Park, and the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. In his current role, Michael offers support and services in areas regarding interpretation and application of personnel policies and collective bargaining agreements, performance management, discipline, dismissal, and legal compliance. Michael also represents management in sensitive, confidential, and complex labor and human resources matters.

Guy Zuzovsky is the Manager of LER for the UCSF campus. Guy came to UCSF as Principal LER Analyst in 1999 and subsequently served as the Labor Relations Advocate for the UCSF Medical Center and Director of the School of Medicine's Office of Human Resources Services. Guy has been the Manager of LER since March 2006.

Jeanie Urban joined the UCSF LER team in November 2008 as a Principal Analyst. Jeanie's primary responsibility is to provide analysis, consultation, and coaching in the areas of Labor and Employee Relations to UCOP. Jeanie began her UC career in July 2006 and prior to UC worked for Pacific Bell and Travelers Insurance in various HR positions including Labor Relations, Compensation, and Workers' Compensation. Jeanie holds a B.A. degree from San Diego State University; a paralegal certificate from the University of San Diego and a Master's degree from Golden Gate University in HR Management.

Frank Tastevin, Manager [+ -]
Frank Tastevin, the Manager of Recruitment and Workforce Planning since November 2005, previously served as Acting Manager of Staffing and Compensation for UCSF Campus HR. Frank has worked for UCSF since 1997 first as a Temporary Employment Program Analyst and then a Senior Staffing Analyst. With more than 25 years of human resources and management experience, he has worked in areas such as program design and implementation, job skills training development, counseling, marketing, promotion, and advertising for companies including Goodwill Industries, Galoob Inc., and the Marin Education Fund.

Robert Dale, Recruitment Consultant [+ -]
Robert Dale joined UCSF in 2000 as an Analyst working out of the Temporary Employment Program (TEP) pool assigned to Development and Training unit. In 2001, he became a career employee and later transferred into the TEP unit as an Analyst. Robert was later promoted to a Staffing and Compensation Analyst, and with the reorganization of the HR office is working as a Recruitment Analyst assigned to support both UCSF and UCOP recruitment efforts.

Janet Gong, Recruitment Consultant [+ -]
Janet Rainwater Gong is currently a Recruitment Consultant in the HR department and supports UCSF campus wide. Previously Janet functioned as a Senior Compensation Analyst in the same department. She has more than 10 years of experience as a Senior HR Generalist, two of which she held a management role, has received her M.B.A. with emphasis in HR Management, and is both AIRS and PHR certified. As a member of the Community Outreach Internship Program (COIP) and the Resume Workshop Committee, Janet partners with the Community and Governmental Relations Division of UCSF and consults with non-profit Bay Area organizations to strengthen the relationship between UCSF and the various non-profit organizations looking to develop opportunities at the University for their clients. Since October of 2008, Janet has taken on the additional duties of supporting UCOP to help meet their staffing and recruitment needs.
