- Director named for new UCOP Budget Office
- Job opening for Senior Project Manager
- Revised brown bag schedule
Dear Colleagues:
This week's announcement that Michael Rancer has accepted the position as Director of the new UCOP Budget Office represents an important milestone in our progress toward consolidated business units within UCOP. In early June we expect to announce details and job openings for two more new units, the Business Resource Center (BRC) and Institutional Research.
Director named for new UCOP Budget Office
Michael Rancer has been named Director of the new UCOP Budget Office effective July 1, 2008. For the last 12 years, Mike has served as chief administrative officer for the UC Berkeley general library system, overseeing financial operations for an $85 million budget and 400 employees. Mike has proven through his leadership of numerous initiatives that he has the strategic, budgeting and management skills necessary to help the Office of the President consolidate and modernize its budget functions.
Even before his official arrival on July 1, Mike will be involved in filling the other Budget Office leadership and staff positions. Interviews will begin by mid-June, with the goal of launching the new unit with the start of the next fiscal year on July 1. Over the course of the summer, Mike will meet with employees and department heads to introduce the new unit and establish new processes for providing the Regents, President Yudof and the public with a clear, accurate and comprehensive picture of UC system office expenditures.
Job opening for Senior Project Manager
The UCOP restructuring effort involves numerous complex, interdependent, and fast-paced projects. We have opened recruitment for a Senior Project Manager to serve as the central coordinating point for the overall effort. This career position will be responsible for integrating the development, implementation, documentation, and reporting of all restructuring projects across UCOP. The position will be open until June 12. See https://jobs.ucop.edu/.
