Re: UCOP restructuring update for week of June 9, 2008

  • OP Budget Office, Business Resource Center and Institutional Research
  • New job listings
  • Reminder of HR support programs
  • Website updates

Dear Colleagues:

Last week we shared design details of three new consolidated units. If you weren't able to attend or listen to one of the brown bag meetings, I encourage you to read the meeting material that's now available on the OP restructuring website to get a sense of how these consolidations will affect you and your department. If you perform the functions that will be consolidated in the new units and enjoy this type of work, be sure to explore the job opportunities.

OP Budget Office, Business Resource Center and Institutional Research
Summary descriptions of these three new units are available at [website], including organizational charts for the OP Budget Office and Business Resource Center (BRC). As discussed during last week's brown bag sessions, the organizational chart for Institutional Research continues to be reviewed.

New job listings
Job listings for the Institutional Research director and for the six BRC leadership positions opened this week on the UCOP Jobs website. These MSP positions will be open for three weeks. We anticipate that the rest of the BRC jobs will be posted beginning the week of June 16, and those jobs listings will be open for two weeks.

Reminder of HR support programs
We want to be sure you're aware of the support programs available through OP Human Resources. You can find tools and information to help with resume writing, interview skills and career self assessment, as well as information about upcoming career development seminars, at [website]. HR has scheduled seminars through June, and soon will announce additional workshops in July and August.

HR is also supplementing the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). As announced last week, Rebecca Stanwyck, LCSW, has been contracted through August 2008 to assist Jude Sharp, Ph.D., our regular EAP counselor. EAP offers short-term, confidential counseling for the members of the OP community and referral to other resources, if appropriate. For contact information go to [website]

Website updates
The OP restructuring website continues to be updated with the latest information.

Again I encourage you to stay informed about all the changes and use the feedback page on the website to send us your questions and share your ideas.
