UCOP Restructuring Update for Week of September 2, 2008
September 3, 2008

  • Human Resources and Benefits restructuring
  • Job openings in BRC and IR unit
  • Upcoming brown bag meetings

Dear Colleagues:

This week's update features news about the restructuring of Human Resources and Benefits, and reminders of current job openings and upcoming brown bag meetings.

Human Resources and Benefits restructuring
Last week, Judy Boyette presented to Human Resources and Benefits (HR&B) staff the latest organization chart and new job descriptions for their department. With the new organization design in place, HR&B is now beginning the staffing process, which will involve a combination of reassignments and job postings. A number of MSP level positions in HR&B have been posted on the UCOP Jobs website; in general, these positions are open to all UCOP employees, and they will remain open for three weeks. In order to help ensure competitive pools of candidates for each position, some jobs may be advertised to a wider group, such as UC-wide or outside of UC. More information about HR&B's restructuring plans, including the new organization chart and job descriptions, is available at the HR&B restructuring website.

Job openings in BRC and IR
Last week we announced the reposting of a number of positions in the Business Resource Center (BRC) and the Institutional Research (IR) unit on the UCOP Jobs website. Today, September 3, is the deadline for applications for the BRC analyst positions. The deadline for the IR data steward position will be Wednesday, September 10. We strongly encourage employees who have experience with this type of work to read the job descriptions and consider applying.

In addition to the openings related to the restructuring initiatives, a number of other openings are posted regularly on the UCOP jobs website.

Upcoming brown bag meetings
Next week's brown bag meetings will be another opportunity for you to hear the latest news and share your views about UCOP's restructuring initiatives. Both meetings are scheduled from Noon to 1:30pm.
