Dear Colleagues:
This week's update includes a link to the updated organizational charts for the new UCOP units that were presented during last week's brown bags, a description of the new Policy and Issues Management Unit, information about two senior appointments in Human Resources and Benefits, and a reminder about watching for new jobs.
Organizational charts for new UCOP units
During last week's brown bag meetings, leaders of UC's restructuring initiatives presented updated organizational charts for a number of new consolidated units, including:
- UCOP Budget Office
- Business Resource Center
- Division Resource Coordinators
- Institutional Research Unit
- Research Program Application and Review Center (PARC)
- Communications Unit
- Policy and Issues Management Unit
The updated organizational charts indicate the status of positions in each unit as of September 12, showing those positions that have been filled, those that are under recruitment, and those that are still to be posted for applications. You can view the presentation on the OP restructuring website.
Role description for the new Policy and Issues Management Unit
The Policy and Issues Management (PIM) unit will report to President Yudof and support him and the leadership in developing proactive positions on key policy issues, particularly those that cross divisional lines. In addition, the unit will consolidate many of UCOP's legislative coordination activities, which currently take place at the division level, relying on input and analysis that will continue to be provided by subject matter experts in the UCOP operational units. The PIM design team is currently developing job descriptions and plans to post seven jobs in the coming weeks.
Staffing announcement from Human Resources and Benefits
Last week, Judy Boyette announced the selection of two of the four Executive Directors in Human Resources and Benefits (HR&B). Michael Baptista will lead the Quality Assurance and Compliance unit, and Dennis Larsen will lead the Executive Compensation and Performance Management unit. The hiring process for jobs in these two units will be phased, starting with the highest ranked positions and moving down through the organization. A number of MSP level positions in HR&B have been posted on the UCOP Jobs website with an application deadline of September 19.
More information about HR&B's restructuring plans, including the new organization chart and job descriptions, is available at the HR&B restructuring website.
Reminder regarding new UCOP employment opportunities
As a reminder, employees interested in new employment opportunities should check the UCOP jobs website regularly for new postings and application deadlines. The job listings on the jobs website are also the best source of information about the goals and activities of these new units.
