This week's update includes staffing news from Human Resources and Benefits, the job posting for the Associate Vice President for Communications, and more information about new Divisional Operations Coordinator positions.
Staffing update from Human Resources and Benefits
Last week Judy Boyette announced the selection of the final two Executive Directors in the reorganized Human Resources and Benefits (HRB) department. Randolph Scott will lead the Strategic Planning and Workforce Development unit, and Lynn Boland will lead the Employee Relations, Programs, Policies and Services unit. Both Executive Directors were selected following an extensive recruitment and selection process. With the Executive Directors in place, the hiring process for jobs in these two units will begin, starting with the highest ranked positions and moving down through the organization. An updated organization chart showing the four Executive Directors has been posted to the HRB Restructuring website.
Associate Vice President for Communications
Last week the new Associate Vice President for Communications position opened for recruitment on the UCOP Jobs website. Among the duties of the position, the AVP will provide supervision and management for all communications functions within the new centralized Communications unit, including marketing and communication services, media relations, and internal communications; and will lead the development of communications strategies that help build public understanding of the University's contributions to the State of California and beyond, and promote and advance the University's priorities. The AVP position will remain open for applications for four weeks. We anticipate that job listings for the next level of leadership positions in the new Communications unit will be posted within the next two weeks.
Divisional Operations Coordinators
As announced in our previous update, we will be posting openings this week for six Divisional Operations Coordinator positions that will serve Academic Affairs and Business Operations/External Relations. In Business Operations and External Relations, the three positions will coordinate, on a division-wide basis, a range of activities related to human resources/personnel matters, facilities/space planning and implementation, and large meeting/conference planning and coordination. In Academic Affairs, the positions will be more specialized, with one position focusing on budgetary planning and one on personnel matters. The third position will be a generalist.
