Colleagues,

This week's update includes news of the fifth team lead in the BRC, a number of new job openings, and a reminder of career development resources available through Human Resources.

New team lead in Business Resource Center
Brad Niess, currently a senior analyst in the California Institute for Energy and Environment, has been named as a team lead in the Business Resource Center (BRC). Brad will lead the fifth "pod " in the BRC. This function was added in response to department requests that the BRC expand its scope of service lines to include, among other functions, recharges, post-award contract/grant administration, conference/event contract and payment coordination, travel arrangements, and related financial transactions. We expect to post job openings for three analyst positions on this team within the next few weeks.

New job openings
A number of open positions related to UCOP restructuring were posted last week on the UCOP Jobs website, including five director positions in the new consolidated Communication unit, a director and team lead position in the Research Program Application and Review Center (PARC), and five Divisional Coordinator positions that will serve Academic Affairs and Business Operations/External Relations (a sixth position is currently under review and is expected to be posted soon). For job details and application deadlines, please see the listings on the UCOP Jobs website.

In addition to the restructuring-related job openings announced in these weekly updates, a number of other openings are posted regularly on the UCOP jobs website. The site lists all employment opportunities for UCOP, Agriculture & Natural Resources and the Continuing Education of the Bar, and it often includes courtesy listings from other UC locations. If you re exploring new opportunities, visit the site regularly to see all of the options available.

More job development workshops scheduled
Last week, UCOP HR announced the schedule for additional workshops on resume writing, interviewing and job searches. You can find the workshop schedule and other useful career development information on the UCOP HR website.

Upcoming brown bag meetings
Our series of noon-time brown bag meetings will continue this month with sessions on Wednesday, October 22 (Franklin building) and Thursday, October 23 (Kaiser building). Look for meeting locations and call-in instructions in next week's update.
