UCOP Energy Pledge: Follow-up Survey and Prizes
October 23, 2008
The UCOP Sustainability Coordinators will be conducting a follow-up survey to gauge the effectiveness of the Energy Pledge project.
Sustainability Coordinators will be walking through the building before or after normal business hours to see how many people have posted their UCOP Energy Pledges and how many of these people are turning off their electronics at the end of the day. Surveys will take place October 20 - October 31.
To reward good behavior, the Sustainability Coordinators will place chocolate on the desks of people who have both posted their Energy Pledge and have turned off all electronic equipment. These people may also be entered into a raffle to win sustainably harvested and produced coffee or chocolate.
Indulge your sweet tooth and help UCOP reduce its environmental impact!
Survey results are anonymous and will be compared to a baseline survey that was conducted in February of this year.
Our initial follow-up survey in April showed that about half of the employees on targeted floors had signed and posted the Energy Pledge and that the project was having a significant effect. For example, there was a 31% reduction in PCs left on after work, a 40% reduction in monitors, and a 49% reduction in printers.
